There are many things in life that are not quite as simple as black and white, most of them beyond our control. For those that I have control over, I try to keep it simple, especially when it comes to skincare. Gone are the days where I used 9 different products after cleansing. I realized it all boils down to the very first step – proper makeup removal. Even when I don’t apply makeup, I make it a point to remove the impurities and dirt that had accumulated on my skin throughout the day from environmental pollutants or oil and smoke from cooking in the kitchen or sunscreen.
It is imperative to find the right type of makeup removal. I worked out that cleansing oil and milk don’t quite sit well with my oily skin, while it appreciates water-based makeup removers.
How Does Micellar Water Work?
I’m pretty sure you’ve heard about Micellar Water, what with all that buzz about it being a magical potion that removes makeup, dirt, and oil from the skin without rinsing. It doesn’t dry out the skin, and some brands’ even provide hydration benefits.
It looks and feels like plain old water, and Simple Micellar Cleansing Water has NO artificial fragrances, colors, or harsh chemicals, making it THE magic potion for sensitive skin like mine.
Simply pour a generous amount of Simple Micellar Water on a cotton pad, don’t skimp coz you need a sufficient amount to let the water glide on your skin and absorb all the impurities.
What happens then is that all that sebum, oil and dirt on your skin will latch on the tiny round balls of cleansing molecules – called Micelles, hence the name Micellar Water – that float in the water and are swept away when you swipe the soaked cotton pad across your skin.
It feels delightfully refreshing, and is great for travel – imagine being on a plane for many hours, allowing your skin to breathe and keeping it hydrated are equally important – or for situations where no running water is easily available.
Like that day when I had to rush from attending an event in the afternoon, to Muay Thai class in the evening, then to a double date at Geylang Serai Bazaar lol. I used Simple Micellar Water to remove all my makeup in the car while Mr Mode drove me to class. I haven’t applied mascara in months since I started having eyelash extensions so I can’t vouch for its efficacy on waterproof mascara, but I find it very gentle on the eye area. No stinging, no drying, which is impressive coz my eye area is usually the one that suffers from dryness immediately, but with this, it somehow hydrates the area?? =O (Simple Micellar Cleansing Water claims to instantly boost skin hydration by up to 90% after makeup removal)
MT class ended late, so I only had time for a change of clothes, and off we had to rush to pick up our friends for a night out at Geylang Serai Bazaar (to soak in the atmosphere of Ramadan!). I had no makeup on, but obviously there were oil and perspiration from an intense workout session. So I used the Simple Micellar Cleansing Wipes – which are soaked with Simple Micellar Water – to remove all that grime and for that much-needed skin refresher! There was no feeling of tightness or stickiness, no fragrance or harsh chemicals to irritate my skin.
If you have thick makeup on, I would advise against using only this on a daily basis. Think of cleansing wipes as a quick-fix, an on-the-go solution to remove impurities on the skin. =) What I do for thorough cleansing is remove all traces of makeup with Simple Micellar Water, then double cleanse with a mild cleanser suitable for my skin type.
Simple Micellar Cleansing Wipes are currently the FIRST & ONLY Micellar Wipes in the market! 😀
