Go Bold Or Stay Nude With Maybelline Color Sensational Bold Matte & Neo Nude Lipsticks

My first ever Maybelline lipstick was in a deep shade of mahogany. And it made me look like I had barely survived from a plane crash and out of desperate hunger gobbled down a handful of poisonous berries.

I was 13 – and clueless. @[email protected]

And then I never owned another Maybelline lipstick in my life after that. Lol.

So I was pretty skeptical when the range of Bold Matte and Neo Nude Maybelline Color Sensational lipsticks came into my possession – hopes were low.

Now that I’ve tried them on, I must say I’m impressed with the quality of the lipsticks from these two collections, especially those in the Bold Matte range. I’ve never seen lipstick shades of such intensity coming from Maybelline before – so luminous, so bold!

Bold Red  |  Vivid Coral  |  Hot Pink  |  Cheeky Coral  |  Sugar Pink

These lipsticks claim to ‘deliver superior color saturation, and hydrated with honey nectar that nourishes lips’, but they still do leave my lips dry and flake a little – not a lot, in fact, a lot less than other brands. I guess that’s the trade off for matte lipsticks. You just have to remember to exfoliate beforehand to get rid of as much dead skin as possible.

Moisturizing aspect is so-so, but color pigmentation is buildable without looking cakey so you can achieve flexibility in terms of how bold or sheer you want your lip shade to be. Pretty good for a drugstore brand!

Bold Red  |  Vivid Coral  |  Hot Pink  |  Cheeky Coral  |  Sugar Pink

Out of the 5 shades available, my favorites are Bold Red and Cheeky Coral. Maybe Hot Pink too, I’m undecided.

My girl friend had Vivid Coral – a very warm red – and then I let her try my Bold Red – a cool red – and it instantly lit up her complexion. I loved it on her so much I went to get one for her. Heehee!

Both of us wearing Bold Red. “Is she your sister?”, we get asked that ALL THE TIME, all the way from when we were in school till this day. Haha! This was taken in July (now’s September) and my skin was starting to get better; battle scars array with no face makeup applied – but it’s okie! 🙂

Quite good!

You can get Maybelline Color Sensational Bold Matte lipsticks at most departmental stores and online. (I think they go by different names!)

Maybelline Color Sensational Neo Nude

The lipsticks in the Neo Nude collection are like the shyer distant relatives of Bold Matte. Quadruplets, really, some differences but largely similar.

NE01  |  NE06  |  NE05  |  NE04

So similar, right?

NE01  |  NE06  |  NE05  |  NE04

Sorry about the sequence! I got confused!

The shades are moisturizing but the color is so sheer that no matter how much you build upon it, that’s the max you’re gonna get. They look rich but apply really sheer. Great for those who appreciate a light wash of color.

I wish these had longer lasting power though, they usually don’t last me past the walk to the train station.

Oh, I could do without it!

Day Out With My ‘Sister’

My girl friend took soooooooooo many photos of me and only these were passable! It’s just so much harder to look good in photos when one is just 1.55m tall, with chunky legs and muscular calves (from dancing). Hahaha! People are shocked when they see me in person coz I’m really…….. short.

I just had to make one retro-looking photo. Perfect opportunity with that poof-poof hair and a-go-go dress! Daddy always says I look a lot like mama. She must have been one hot chick. BAHAHAHAHA!!! SAY OWNSELF!! XD

Huge thank you to Salon Vim for always being able to achieve the look I want. This vintage style was done by Joyce, hair color by Weng. You can take a look at my posts in the Salon Vim archive for my different hair-dos!

Keep on rockin’, y’all! Happy weekend! 😀
